Deadly Undertakers’ brew is too strong for Alcoholics

ACTION in week eight of the Tewkesbury Trophies Pool League saw a variety of emotions and hard-fought battles.

The Undertakers continued their onslaught defeating the Alocholics Anon 14-1 in what was a one-sided affair in which winning captain John Farnell racked up a treble.

In the first of the top of the table clashes, the Alpina Bush Cutters proved just too strong for Formula One after a 9-6 success. Fred Tandy won all of his three frames for the winners.

Lucky 5, looking for only their second win of the season, almost found it against North-way. New signing Calvin Blanford added depth to the side but couldn't help Brenden Kennedy and co winning the match 9-6.

Lost the Pot made it two wins on the bounce when they defeated the unpredictable Wiffy at Best outfit 11-4 with Steve Cowdry and Matt Bur-ton both unbeaten.

The final encounter at Dou-ble D's saw a clash of the titans as the ever improving title contenders, the Armies, took on Nomads.

It was defending champions Nomads who proved their mettle with an emphatic12-3 victory in which both Mark Aspey and Andy Crawford won three out of three.

Nomads are in action this weekend at the Champions of Champions at the Vauxhall Holiday Park in Great Yar-mouth.

The competition is open to local league winners all across the country and, after winning their qualifier 8-2, the Nomads will be looking to impress in a battle against 95 other teams.
