Sunday side suffer after early boost

Oddfellows Arms 5, Tewkesbury Town 2 TEWKESBURY suffered a disappointing Evesham Sunday League reverse after a bright start.

They took a well deserved lead midway through the half when a long ball from Dave Goodwin allowed Paul Kavanagh to race through and lob the keeper.

Tewkesbury's plans of building on this lead were immediately dashed when straight from the kick-off, Oddfellows equalised.

Town tried to regroup and Simon Brown twice went close to restoring the lead.

A further chance came when a training ground inspired free-kick from Stuart McCash was flicked on by Jason Game but no-one was able to apply the finishing touch.

Instead it was Oddfellows who took the lead just before half-time following a dubious free- kick award.

Things got worse straight after half-time when a careless pass was intercepted and a quick pass picked out a home player who gave keeper Matt Birton no chance.

Danny Sollis pulled a goal back following a defence splitting ball from Kavanagh and the visitors could have made it 3-3 but Dave Marriner's first touch let him down when he had a clear sight pf goal.

This soon proved costly soon when the Oddfellows netted a fourth and then tied up the result late on to provide the final scoreline with a rather flattering appearance.
