    ART SOCIETY: At the April meeting, members and guests enjoyed an evening with wildlife artist Chris Jones, who demonstrated the techniques and materials used in painting wildlife subjects in acrylics. The subject he chose was an exotic and colourful squirrel, species of which will be difficult to find in the Evesham area. The next meeting on May 17 will be a demonstration of landscape painting in oils by artist Ray Hedger. read more

    WEDNESDAY CLUB: Members met on May 3 when Mrs M Boath presided. Birthday cards were distributed. The quiz held by Honeybourne School was won by: Mrs Humphries, Mrs Wadhams, Mrs Jennings and Mrs Innes, the team representing the club. read more

    PARISH COUNCIL: At their April meeting, chaired by Cllr Tony Wilkins, the parish council heard from Mrs Ribbans that the parish plan steering committee had had its last meeting. She said that the parish plan was now on the district council web site - www.stratford.gov.uk. read more

    WEDNESDAY CLUB: Recent talks have continued the popular programme of speakers. Following the talk with slides on Chipping Campden Town Walks by Ann Colcomb, members then heard a talk by Marion Beagley on The Village Shop when she related some of the experiences of she and her husband when they ran the village shop in Sands, Surrey, in the early sixties. Her reminiscences of long gone items sold in a village shop, and the often amusing exchanges with her rural customers, were much enjoyed. read more

  • Offenham

    FLORAL ART SOCIETY: The society held the yearly open meeting at the Arts Centre on Wednesday, May 3. This was a sell-out. The two demonstrators, Bob Harris and Andrew Lloyd delighted the members with their arrangements. There were 25 separate arrangements. All these were raffled. Sales were brisk at the various stalls, with the home-made cakes being another sell-out. The chairman, Mrs Chris Parkinson, hosted the event, with Mrs Sheila Hand giving the vote of thanks. Everyone had an enjoyable evening. During the year there will be visits to various places, usually with coach places paid for by the club. This year sees a further visit to Longhope, the home of Bob Harris and family. Also still to come is the yearly garden party - this year to be held at the chairman's house - in August. New members/visitors are always welcome at the monthly meetings - first Wednesday each month. Subs are £14 (over-60s £12), per year. Visitors £3.50 per meeting. read more
