Buzzards storm into semis after double helping of Plate success

BREDON'S Under-14s stormed through to the semi-finals of the North Midlands Plate scoring seven tries in a 41-5 romp at Stourbridge.

The Buzzards showed their intent from the start and hooker Anton Gabb scored the first try, which was soon added to by captain and No 8 Will Graulich.

Scott Bunch added the conversion before winger Dave Andrews added a third try. Scrum-half Ross Attwood and flanker Simon Harkness added two more, both converted by Bunch, to ensure a comfortable 31-0 advantage at half-time.

Stourbridge started the second period with solid defence and a couple of attacking plays, but these were soon stifled.

However, there was an inevitability of further Bredon tries and flanker Ben Lees and full back Chris Saxby both went over ahead of a late consolation for the losers.

The Under-17s also booked a last four slot after a 39-0 defeat of Whitchurch in the North Midlands Plate.

The visitors only had a couple of scoring opportunities while Bredon's first score came through Ben Thirlby and Mark Everett converted.

Further tries came from Cane Burge and a brilliant running effort from Stephan Ellis.

Whitchurch defended well but were outclassed and Ben Ward, Jim McGorrigan, Chris Ridings and Cane Burge also got on to the scoresheet.
