Flooding fails to deter competitors

DESPITE the recent rain and flooding in parts of Tewkesbury, the first Aquathlon, organised by gogglepedaltrainer events, was given the go-ahead.

The event was the first of a series of four events that are perfect for competitors who are new to multisport events or for the seasoned triathlete, looking to add some speed work into their pre season training.

A much welcome break in the rain and unseasonally mild conditions saw 40 competitors successfully complete the 400m swim and 4K run - shortened at the last moment in order to prevent the swim/run event becoming a swim/swim event!

The male and overall winner was Paul Horsfall in a time of 19 minutes and 18 seconds and he also recorded the fastest swim and run of the day, 5.06 and 14.12 respectively.

Second overall and first female was Caroline Jones (tricoachinguk.org) who pushed Horsfall all the way to record a finishing time of 19.50 (5.12/14.38).

Race two of the series takes place on Sunday, February 17. For entry forms, along with full results and event photos from the opening race, go to www.gogglepedaltrainer.com.
