Prudden Road Surfacing Tennis League
STRATFORD'S A and B sides locked horns in the Premier Division last week with the former dominating with a series of straight sets win.
The closest contest was the opening rubber when Graham Marsh and Chris Marrow won on a tie-break 6-4, 7-6 over Richard Monk and Nick Harper.
Other results: Tim Page and Simon West bt Lawrence Dingley and Paul Crocombe 6-2, 6-4 & Monk & Harper 6-1, 6-2; Marsh & Marrow bt Dingley & Crocombe 6-3, 6-0.
Inkberrow moved into a strong table position after seeing off their own B team 4-0 although the B players tried hard to make a match of it.
Alex Woodbridge and Tim Price opened for Inkberrow A with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Chris Baker and Ashley Baldwin.
Assured They then went on to beat Ricky Allen and Craig Weedon 6-1, 6-3, while Pete Watson and Graeme Rankin assured an A team win by beating Allen and Weedon 6-1, 6-3 and Baker and Baldwin 6-1, 6-3.
Littleton recorded their first victory of their campaign when they overcame previously unbeaten Moreton-in-Marsh 4-0.
The visitors began well as Sean Witheford and Chris Elliott gave Littleton the lead with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Brian Lomas and Gary Jackson.
The same pair then defeated Ian Merriman and Owain Thomas 6-0, 6-1 who were beaten 6-3, 6-2 by Richard Herborn and Zak Wilson who then struggled to account for Lomas and Jackson 6-7, 6-2, 7-6.
Action in Division One saw Henley-in-Arden jump up the table to join leaders Chipping Campden after a comprehensive 4-0 home victory over FISSC.
Campden were held 2-2 by Bidford who stay joint third.
Other result: Ardencote 2, Claverdon 2.
Alcester opened up a slight lead in Division Two after they beat their own B Team 3-1. Studley are in close attendance after they impressively got the better of Stratford C 3-1.
Pershore moved up to equal third after they overcame Aston Cantlow 3-1, while Littleton B lifted themselves off the bottom after a good 3-1 victory at home to HDA Redditch.
Harbury and Shipston hang on to joint top spot in the third division after respective 2-2 draws with Claverdon B and Ilmington.
FISSC B join Harbury and Claverdon B on six points after they beat Chipping Campden B 3-1.
Division Four started with wins for Bidford B, 3-1 over Littleton C, Claverdon C by the same scoreline at the expense of Henley B, while Inkberrow got the better of Moreton B - again 3-1.
The newly formed Division Five began it's season with some friendly draws.
Alcester C and Shipston B shared the points in a 2-2 draw as did Bidford C and HDA B of Redditch. However, Inkberrow D claimed early top spot by beating Chipping Campden C 3-1.
