Courts open for play on Saturday

MEMBERS of Evesham Rowing club's squash and tennis sections are looking to the future after the extensive damage caused by last year's floods.

It's taken a massive effort by club members to keep the sections afloat and an open day is taking place on Saturday when there will be an opportunity to try out squash, tennis and racquetball.

Top-class coaches and players will be on hand to offer help and advice.

World ranked squash player Chris Ryder and community coach Len Ryder will be in attendance alongside several club players.

Experienced LTA coach Nigel Hunter and his qualified staff will be on court for the afternoon tennis session when free coaching will be available.

Coaching courses provided are based on the England Squash Mini Programme and LTA's Mini tennis programme.

Squash advice for juniors will be available between 11am and 1pm and junior tennis and adult squash for two hours from 1pm.

There will be an exhibition squash clash from 3.30 and there will be a presentation to the club of the England Squash Club Mark. The club will also receive a bag of mini squash coaching equipment, including rackets and balls, worth £400.

More details are available from head squash coach Richard Avery on 07815 969273.
