Veyron is centre piece of Prescott's French weekend

NEWS from Prescott is that La Vie En Bleu is back this weekend when it will be bigger and better than last year's event.

The event is a celebration of French voiture design from veteran to Veyron and the only one of its kind in the UK.

Ian Patton, Prescott general manager for the Bugatti Owners' Club, explained: "We are delighted that the Veyron will back and that Pierre-Henri Raphanel will be driving it again.

"The car was the star of the show last year - sleek, powerful and truly magnificent. His demonstration runs were very spectacular and, now he is more familiar with Prescott, it will be a rare opportunity to see this super car in action."

For Grand Prix enthusiasts, Ayrton Senna's F1 Peugott powered Lotus T98 will also be taking to the hill, the car which gained eight pole positions and two wins.

While the French theme runs throughout the weekend, there is a distinct anglo-saxon flavour to Saturday with classes for Austin Healey sports cars, all types of Lotus, pre-War Austin Sevens, Ginettas, 500cc racing cars and a round of the Pirelli Ferrari Hill Climb Championship.

Sunday's action includes drivers from the Citroen Car Club, Matra Enthusiasts Club, Peugeot Sport Club and the Vintage Sports Car Club.

And, this is probably the best chance of the year to see the traditional Bugatti cars in action with 26 cars due to compete on Sunday.

Practice is in the morning on both days from 9am with the competitive runs in the afternoon.

Adult admission is £15 on the gate for each day (£26 for a weekend ticket). Advance tickets are £12 and £24 respectively. Children under 14 are admitted free and car parking is free.
