The top prize in the contest, which takes place between August 22 and 31, has been increased to £3,000 with backing prizes of £2,000, £1,000, £500 and £250. AN Evesham independent retailer has pulled off a major coup by winning a national award for one of its products. Tiles Naturally! on Abbey Road, is the exclusive UK agents for La Fabbrica, an Italian porcelain tile firm. One of their ranges – Fusion – won the Floor Tile of the Year Award at the British Tile Association Gala Award Ceremony.

Simon Barker and Christopher Jolly, who have set up Weld Tec Engineering on Worcester Road Industrial Estate, Chipping Norton, say they do not have competitors within a 30-mile radius. They make products from stainless steel, titanium and other specialist materials for the theatre, television and motor sport, including the Honda Formula One racing team.
