New centre will treat dogs and horses

AN animal loving therapist has set up her own business in Great Washbourne and is keen to put her healing hands to good use.

Anna Rowland, aged 24, has undergone three years of training at Hartpury College and is now a qualified McTimoney Animal Therapist offering chiropractic treatment tailored specifically to dogs and horses.

Anna, who lives in Great Washbourne, Tewkesbury, said that while many people visit a chiropractor to treat back pain it is not as easy to know when a pet is in need of help and if in doubt, owners should get their animal checked.

She said: “I really enjoy meeting new and different sorts of people. I always wanted to have my own business and now that is happening I am really pleased and anxious to make it a success.

“It has been going really well so far and I am in the process of finishing my new clinic room at Great Washbourne which I hope will be ready in August. I am happy to travel to a location to treat an animal and I soon I will be able to treat them here as well.”

There are a number of signs for dog and horse owners to look out for if they suspect they may need help. These can include crying out when getting up in dogs and limb dragging in horses but owners must consult a vet before any treatment can be approved.

Anna added: “I want to widen the knowledge and spread the word about therapies for animals. My work is about manipulation to align and balance the musculoskeletal system and it can treat injuries resulting from a slip, fall or accident.

“McTimoney is a particularly gentle form of treatment which is why it is so good to use on animals.”
