A MASTER craftswoman from Bishampton has received a commendation for her hand-carved quartz cufflinks.
Annie Cracknell, aged 23, was invited to an award ceremony last Monday at Goldsmiths Hall, London, to receive commendation for her creation.
She also received the Gem-A award, a scholarship for a diamond grading course at the Gemological Association of Great Britain, worth £1,000.
She said: “I was so shocked when my name was called. I thought I had only won the commendation.”
The award ceremony, in its 101st year, is designed to encourage and promote the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and design among all those in the UK engaged in silversmithing, goldsmithing and jewellery.
Annie’s cufflinks will be exhibited at Goldsmiths Hall along with the other prize winners until the end of March.
