Tewkesbury swimmers pick up more medals

TEWKESBURY Swimming Club members provided a gold rush at the county blocks when 21 gold, 24 silver, 18 bronze and 39 qualifier medals were won by the 26 swimmers in action.

Highlights were Will Gibney (15) who took the junior champion crown for the 100m breaststroke, while Craig Skinner (13) clocked up an amazing ten golds and five silver medals.

Nine-year-old Rebecca Sheppard, on her counties debut, went home with five individual golds and one team gold.

On the final day, junior girls Sheppard, Hattie Rothwell (9), Isabel Compton (10), Beth Parker (10) and Elin Caine (10) showed their promise for the future with a gold in the 100m freestyle and a bronze in the 100m medley team events.

The boys and girls also took home a further 14 team age group medals in the 200m freestyle and medley events.

British Age Group Category Awards were also received by Rothwell, Sheppard, Compton, Eli Gibney (10), Alex Tailford (12) and Craig Skinner (13).
