Bored local youngsters and good causes could both benefit from the hard work of Adrian Finch.
He and a group of friends are organising monthly charity evenings at the Plough in Barton Street.
The first, featuring seven local bands, DJs and other entertainers provided a great night out for all and raised £150 for Oxfam.
Now Mr Finch wants to encourage local youngsters to come along and get involved.
"There are a lot of them out there looking for something to do and we are not giving the youth of this town what they want," he said.
"I'm in my 30s and I've never known a generation as bad as this one, but the problem is they are bored senseless.
"I want to urge some of them at least to get out and do something - either come along and perform or get involved, or just enjoy it."
Mr Finch hopes to hold the next event a couple of weeks before Christmas.
