Upton is open. The flood defences have helped the riverside pubs but water has to go somewhere so flooding is much worse on Hanley Road (which is shut again) and other parts of town such as East Waterside and the Ham. Photos and measurements prove that now. General view around town is we would have been better off just accepting the pubs by the river flood each year, that would be manageable and at least the roads would be open and we would not have the huge poluting diesel pumps running 24/7 that the EA are using to try to put the water that leaks past the flood gates back in the river.
Then watch your riverside pubs close, one by one reducing employment opportunities and give potential tourists even less reason to visit - but hey! the Hanley Road would still be open.

Obvious you do not live or have to make a living from the pubs.
Seems a bit of a selfish attitude but if that is what you think so be it.
