Vandals bring bus to a stop

Buses are the latest target for Northway vandals.

Last week, a gang of them opened the engine compartment of a Stagecoach bus parked at a stop at the corner of Steward Road and Cedar Road and managed to switch it off.

Police spokesman Annabelle Brittain said: "There is an ongoing problem with youths in that area and we are working with our colleagues to resolve it."

Stagecoach spokesman Nathan Williams said: "We have not had any reports of damage to our buses, but sometimes our drivers will call the police if they are concerned about gangs of youths hanging around."
