3:04pm Wednesday 23rd October 2013 in News
GLOUCESTERSHIRE County Council’s successful older people’s month draws to a close this weekend with the final event in Tewkesbury.
People are invited along to Marina Court, Trafalgar Road, between 10am and 2pm on Saturday which will include entertainment from the Gloucester Strings ukulele group.
Several hundred people have already attended events around the county and it is hoped lots more will go along to the Tewkesbury event.
At the drop-in event, there will be information stands and demonstrations covering topics such as: • planning for the future • staying safe and well at home • safer driving with age • housing support • NHS health checks Copies of the new Independent Living Guide will be available to take away which includes helpful information and advice about local services for older people to help them to live safely and securely in their own homes for as long as they are able to.
Councillor Andrew Gravells, cabinet member for older people, said: “I’m looking forward to going along to Tewkesbury and meeting as many people as possible.
"It’s been a really successful month and we have all enjoyed getting out and about into local communities and chatting to people.
"I would also like to say a big thank you to all the local organisations which have been along to the events.
“All of us at Gloucestershire County Council will be doing everything we can to ensure people have the right information at the right time to make choices about their older age.”
If you can’t make it along to the event, visit gloucestershire.gov.uk/independentliving for more details or call 01452 426868 for advice on any of the events or services or to get a copy of the Independent Living Guide.
