THE G4S Technology Charity Committee have raised £6,000 for Macmillan Tewkesbury.

The firm is in their sixth year of fundraising to support charitable causes and over that time has raised nearly £30,000 for charitable causes.

Macmillan Tewkesbury Fundraising Chairman Carol Crilly was presented the cheque by Charity Committee Chairman, Howard Johnson, Treasurer Gillian Devereux and committee members committee members Kath Gunston and Sue Mason.

“I’m ecstatic," she said. “This is an extraordinary amount of money for the Tewkesbury Macmillan fundraising comomittee to receive. This will make a difference to so many people’s lives”.

Gillian Devereux, HR Manager and Charity Committee Treasurer, said: "Our employees had a great time raising the money. Several individuals raised huge amounts by running half marathons, charity cycle rides, big afternoons and even ‘go sober for October.

"G4S Technology chose to support Macmillan due to all the fantastic work they do for people with, and affected, by cancer.

“So many people know someone or have themselves been affected by cancer so this is a cause close to so many hearts."

The funds raised are likely be used locally, supporting the training of Macmillan doctors and nurses but also towards a grant scheme which people who are, or have been, affected by cancer can apply for as support.

Over the Easter Weekend April 19 and 20 the local Macmillan fundraising committee will be hosting the Tewkesbury Big Weekend full of music, stalls, fairground attractions and even a carnival parade.
