Mystery of lost consultation papers

Consultation documents by Grundon Waste Management on the future of Wingmoor Farm appear to have gone missing.

The 8000, eight-page question-aires were handed to a professio-nal distribution firm and should have been delivered to the people of Bishop's Cleeve and surround- ing villages by January 12.

Grundon Managing Director Richard Skehens said: "Unfortun-ately there appears to be no evidence that any of the documents were delivered, even our own staff living locally have not received them.

"We deliberately decided to use a professional company for the distribution, so that everyone in in the community received one.

"We even intentionally arranged for distribution early in the New Year, so it wouldn't get tangled up in the Christmas post "We do not know what's happened to 64,000 sheets of paper, but nevertheless decided to start the whole process all over again and reprint 8000 more questionnaires."

He apologised to the people of Bishop's Cleeve and added that the 14-day consultation period would not start until all the leaflets have been delivered.

"We can only apologise for any inconvenience, which is extreme- ly frustrating for all, but not of our making," he said.

Ruth Roll added that despite all their efforts they have so far been unable to contact the delivery company to find out what has happened to the questionnaires.

They seek the views of the local community on a forthcoming planning application to extend the life of the site for a further 25 years.

Barbara Farmer, spokeswomen for local action group SWARD, - Safety in Waste and Rubbish Disposal, said: "We are supposed to have confidence in them to run this massive waste site and they cannot even organise a leaflet distribution properly.

"It doesn't do a lot for my confidence."
