ALDERMAN Knight School in Tewkesbury has a new deputy head.
Julie Kennedy is set to join the school over the Easter break from the Milestones School in Gloucester.
Head teacher Clare Steel said the decision to appoint a deputy had been taken because the future of the special school was now secure.
The assistant head teacher, Sally Brown, retired last summer after 24 years.
The school's future came under threat last year as proposals were mooted to integrate pupils with moderate learning difficulties into mainstream schools.
But the decision was overturned by Gloucestershire County Council following protests from parents.
