Traffic calming boosts school safety

Tewkesbury headmaster Andrew Holt has welcomed proposed traffic calming measures for Chance Street.

Gloucestershire County Council is proposing installing a raised crossing platform at the junction of Chance Street and Rope Walk, outside Tewkesbury C of E Primary School.

Mr Holt said: "Anything that slows the traffic down along there has got to be a good idea.

"We have a lollipop person on duty whenever the children are arriving or leaving school, but anything that adds to their safety will be very welcome."

The crossing serves the school and the family centre, which caters for pre-school children.
