Clothing and other unwanted items from Tredington could soon be making their way to Eastern Europe and making money for the local primary school.
The school has been taking part in a scheme run by a company called bag2school. The firm provides the school with plastic bags for children to take home and fill with good quality but unwanted items.
They are then brought back to school for collection, and sent to countries such as Latvia and Lithuania, where they are sold to wholesalers, who sort them and sell them on to shops individually.
School secretary Helen Turberville said the school gets paid 25p a kilo for the donated goods, yielding £165 last year, which goes towards extra resources for the school.
"We know that bag2school is not a charity and we make sure all the parents and friends who support us know this, but it certainly helps us," she said.
