Key decision down to cash

The future of Tewkesbury Museum hangs in the balance.

As the Admag went to press, members of Tewkesbury Borough Council's community and economy committee were discussing the future of a £8,000-a-year grant.

Its options were: 1 Withdraw the grant altogether; 2 Maintain it plus offer a £1,000 annual grant to Winchcombe Museum; 3 Consider a one-off grant of £12,000 to enable the museum to complete its three year programme of minor improvements and reduce then its annual grant to £3,000; 4 Pay a one-off grant only.

A report to the committee says the museum would find it difficult to survive in its current form without a council grant, which makes up the bulk of its £10,000 annual income.
