Safari tour at the Abbey

Michael Steele, seven, finds a dragon Michael Steele, seven, finds a dragon

Safari tours at Tewkesbury Abbey had youngsters squealing with delight as they found mystical beasts and fabulous creatures amongst the carvings, paintings and stained glass that decorate the ancient building.

More than a hundred families and small groups took part in the trails, organised for the half term week by the members of the church.

One family travelled all the way from Bristol just to take part, after reading about it on the abbey web site.

Organiser Pauline Elliott said: "Numbers were slightly down on last year, because half term in Worcester was a week earlier than in Gloucestershire this year.

Nevertheless it was still very successful.

"I would like to say a big thank you to all the members of the congregation who acted as tour guides and helped make the whole thing possible."
