Snakes, scorpions, cockroaches and tarantulas were amongst the unusual visitors to Tewkesbury library last week, to the delighted of local children.

MORE than 50 children took the chance to get a closer look and in some cases touch the creatures, brought to the library by Bristol Zoo.

Library manager Janet Thompson said: "They all thoroughly enjoyed it, and they were all eager to touch or hold them all.

"I didn't hear anyone saying they did not want to get too close to even the creepiest of them."
