TEWKESBURY Town Council is to spend almost £5,000 on security for the Watson Hall The money will be used for the installation of an anti-intruder alarm system.
Members of the Watson Hall committee of the Town Council agreed to spend the money on security, rather than on structural repairs to the hall, which have now been put on hold until the next financial year.
The decision was made in the light of a recent theft of lead from the roof, and the damage it caused.
The committee also considered a quote for the installation of a fire alarm system, but decided that £8,535 plus VAT was too much for the hall's needs and have agreed instead to commission a fire advisor to inspect the building and advise them accordingly.
The building already meets present legal requirements for fire protection.
