A TEWKESBURY man, arrested after 14 cars were broken into in a single night, was this week remanded in custody for three weeks by Cheltenham magistrates.
Nigel Danby, 32, of Warwick Place, was arrested in Barton Street about 8.30pm on Tuesday.
He appeared before magistrates the following day and admitted charges of theft from a motor vehicle, credit card fraud, possessing an article for fraud - in relation to a number of stolen cheques - and theft from a dwelling.
Danby also asked for 13 thefts from vehicles to be taken into consideration and was remanded in custody for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
The police investigation was launched after 14 vehicles were broken into in Tewkesbury between 3pm on Sunday and 8am the following day.
The targeted vehicles included a Volkswagen Golf parked in St Mary's Lane, a Land Rover Freelander in Swilgate Road, five cars - a Toyota Landcruiser, VW Polo, Ford Mondeo, Ford Escort and VW Golf - parked in Church Street, a Mazda in Potter's Court and a BMW convertible in St Mary's Lane.
Sergeant Nick Butt of Tewkesbury police said officers had worked hard to bring the investigation to a speedy conclusion.
"The lead we needed to identify Danby came when he attempted to use a credit card stolen from one of the car breaks at the Halfords store in Tewkesbury," he said.
"This was a real team effort of which the officers involved can be rightly proud."
