Entertainers and traders from across the world are applying to take part in this year's Tewkesbury Medieval Festival The organisers have had applications from acrobats from Hungary, dance troupes from Belarus, bands from Italy and many more.

Traders are expected from Poland, the Czech republic, Germany and other countries They have also had enquiries from potential visitors from as far away as New Zealand.

The latest was an email from a grandmother checking the dates of this year's event, because she is bringing her grandson from America to see it.

Spokesman Amanda Thomas said: "It is amazing how widely known the event is."
