HEAVY rain yesterday led to the cancellation today of the annual air tattoo at RAF Fairford.
Organisers of the event, now in its 38th year, took the decision after the car parks and part of the airfield were left waterlogged.
More than 300 aircraft were to have taken part in the event which attracts crowds of around 100,000.
However the rain came too late to disrupt a visit by the Queen yesterday when she presented the service with new colours to mark its 90th year.
A total of 90 aircraft took part in a flypast to make the occasion.
A decision on whether the tattoo could go on tomorrow was expected to be taken later today.
