YOUNGSTERS are being urged to take up the summer holidays reading challenge, organised by Tewkesbury Library.
This year's challenge is called Team Read.
Taking part is free, and everyone registering to take part is given a poster.
They then have to read six books, completely of their own free choice and for each one they get a sticker to add to the poster.
Everyone collecting all six wins a gold medal and certificate.
There are a number of extra fun events connected to the challenge.
They include a visit from a magician, a puppet theatre, theatre workshops and visits from an author and a poet.
All activities are free of charge, but places must be booked in advance at the library in Sun Street.
Librarian Marilyn Lane said: "The idea is to keep children enjoying reading throughout the holidays.
"We have had extra funding this year, so it is good to be able to offer them free activities when they have a lot of time on their hands."
