Tewkesbury hotel raises funds for good causes

STAFF and guests from a Tewkesbury hotel were celebrating after raising more than £1,000 for good causes.

Those at the Hilton Puckrup Hall have raised £1,095 from an ‘Around the World in a Day’ event whereby staff, guests and charity supporters joined forces to collectively travel more than 24,901.55 miles, the exact circumference of the earth.

The money will be split between the James Hopkins Trust and Tewkesbury Swimming Club.

The distance was covered at the event on Sunday using gym equipment over seven hours in a competitive and gruelling team challenge, and through a one mile family walk around the hotel.

Thanks to their efforts, combined with other Hilton hotels around the country, a total of 28,513 miles was covered making it just around the globe and then some.

The hotel also had a bouncy castle, a rounders match, fancy dress and a balloon race to help to raise more money on the day.

Tim Bowler, Hilton Puckrup Hall general manager, said he was thrilled with the day’s fund-raising: “I was so impressed to see so many people taking the time and effort to help out and we had a lot of fun along the way.

“I think everyone will had tired legs afterwards but it was certainly worth it to help such good local causes. Thank you so much to all the participants and to everyone who supported us.”
