AN `Oktoberfest' evening of Bavarian style is being celebrated in Apperley this Saturday.
The beer festival taking place at the village hall from 7.30pm is being promoted by Tewkesbury District Twinning Association, following the success of a similar event two years ago.
Visitors will have the opportunity to taste some traditional regional foods and of course sample the popular beer, some of which has been imported specially from Bavaria for the event.
The evening is a social event for the benefit of both members and non-members of the association.
The twinning association was formed 20 years ago to form a cultural and social link with the Miesbach district in Upper Bavaria and many trips including school exchanges, singing groups and even morris men have enjoyed the warm and friendly hospitality on offer.
Group secretary David Ford said: "The event gives people an excellent opportunity to have a good time and learn a little about a different culture at the same time.
"Sharing a beer is a great way to unite the two."
He added: "Bavarian dress is not essential but look out for a couple of real Bavarians who have travelled over to be with is when `Barry Schmidt and his Bavarian Band' start to play lively Bavarian drinking songs."
Tickets for the Taste of Bavarian evening cost £10 per adult in advance and are available from David Ford by calling 01242 677 966 or email colemanc@tiscali.co.uk
