NEW changing facilities and an improved club-house are on the cards at Tewkesbury Rugby Club with plans for a revamp estimated to cost £547,000.
The proposed four new changing rooms at the ground on The Moats, off Gander Lane, would be twice the size of facilities already on the site.
The plans have been boosted by the borough council's decision to award a grant of £27,350 and a loan of £119,650.
The ground is also used by Tewkesbury Town FC, Tewkesbury Athletics and Oberthur Football Club, as well as 10 junior rugby teams.
Planning permission is now much awaited by club members.
Treasurer and director of Bram Lane said: "There are two aspects that drove us to draw up these plans, our facilities no longer meet RFU regulations and the success of the juniors has driven us to do something about the situation."
Club bosses have also pencilled in plans to improve the clubhouse,
The plans include a new social room and changes to the lounge area.
The council money will go towards this, with other funding needed for the changing rooms.
Mr Lane said he hoped the RFU would help but other grants would be sought. Members hope building work can begin next September and be completed by April 2008.
Tewkesbury Rugby Club was formed in 1881.
