Guilty plea by council forger

Tewkesbury borough councillor Sean Connors has pleaded guilty to four charges of forgery and deception at Gloucester Crown Court.

Connors admitted forging borough council dependent's care allowance forms to the value of around £2,000.

He has been bailed until November 6 for pre-sentence and psychiatric reports on both himself and his wife, whose severe depression, defence barrister Giles Nelson told the court, was possibly relevant.

He originally faced 25 charges of forgery and deception, but these were reduced to four specimen charges.

Judge Martin Picton warned Connors that because of the serious breach of trust involved, all sentencing options were open. Connors, 45, represents Brockworth on the Tewkesbury borough and Gloucestershire county councils.
