Tewkesbury Borough Mayor Coun Mike Sztymiak has paid tribute to a fellow councillor who died recently.
Coun Patrick McCarthy, 70, who represented Northway for the Labour party died on September 28 after a long fight against leukaemia.
More than 100 people, including family, friends and many of his fellow councillors attended his funeral at St Nicholas RC Church, Winchcombe on October 6.
Coun Sztymiak said: "I am deeply saddened by his death.
"He was modest and unassuming and his good nature and sense of humour made him very popular."
He added that he would be greatly missed.
Mr McCarthy lived in Toddington with wife Helen.
There will be a by-election on a date yet to be arranged.
