WORCESTER Warriors’ Shaun Perry will be taking on his first task as official player ambassador for Acorns Children’s Hospice this weekend.
Fans will be asked to put aside their sporting rivalry during the local derby against Gloucester at Sixways on Saturday to raise money for the charity. Shaun
said: “Fans of both teams can unite in getting behind fund-raising for Acorns and making a real difference to families that face huge challenges.”
There will be Acorns fund-raisers holding collection buckets and fans can also donate from their mobile phones by texting WRFC12 £3 to 70070. Every penny of the £3 will go to the charity and there
are no network charges.
Shaun will perform the role of official player ambassador for Acorns Children’s Hospice throughout the 2012/13 season and has met children, families and staff at Acorns on several occasions. He
intends to become a regular visitor to the hospice and join in a variety of activities alongside his team-mates, including the annual charity match day on Friday, December 21 against London Welsh.
The scrum half said: “I’m privileged to be official player ambassador for such a great cause that is so important to everyone at Worcester Warriors. I’m looking forward to supporting the charity
over the year and hope we can make this season the biggest success to date.”
