Tewkesbury based groups who meet at the Wheatpieces Community Centre have recently shared in a run of successes.

Five members of White Tiger Taekwondo club brought back no less than eight trophies in a national competition. Both children and adults were put through their paces and faced stiff opposition in sparring and individual patterns categories. The youngest member, Ruby Keen, who attends Tirlebrook school is just 6 years old. The Club is also due to be featured in a national martial arts magazine.

Meanwhile four dogs and their handlers who attend dog obedience classes at the centre, run by Rachel Butler of The Happy Dog Company, passed their Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme (Gold) Award. This is a relatively new scheme with only a limited number of dogs in the country achieving the top accolade. Congratulations go to to Sue and Alfred (Whippet x Collie), Jacki and Sauer (Bavarian Mountain Hound), Tamie Carr and Molly (Boxer) and Keith Bishop and Brian (chocolate Labador).

Rachel says “This is quite a prestigious achievement and only comes as a result of a lot of hard work from dogs and owners. We're as busy as ever and are almost at a fantastic 500 dogs to have been trained at the Community Centre since August 2009!”
