Visitors to Tewkesbury town centre are promised a real treat in the run up to the festive season from the 'Discover Tewkesbury' retailer group who are planning a host of family shopping events.

In a bid to encourage people to start their shopping early, Tewkesbury will be hosting a two day continental style Christmas event. The Italian themed extravaganza kicks off on Friday 16 November with an outdoor authentic Italian Market while Saturday, November 17, brings Flavours of Italy into the high street. Inside the Town Hall will be of Italian-themed produce, gifts and festive treats There will also be Italian food and drink promotions throughout the town on both days –look out for the green, white and red bunting and balloons to find participating outlets. There is a chance to win a hamper packed with goodies worth £50.

The town will also be hosting its annual Festival of Christmas lights on Sunday, November 25. It’s one of Gloucestershire’s largest Christmas events of its kind, attracting hundreds of families into the town centre which is closed off to traffic and transformed into a bustling festive market place.

This year there will be a medieval theme to bolster the festive celebrations. In 2013 Tewkesbury celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Medieval Festival. Look out for the stallholders dressed in medieval costume and spot the high street shops with medieval styled shop windows.
