TWO North Cotswold schools have received awards for stamping out bullying.
Chipping Campden School and Bourton’s Cotswold School were among five Gloucestershire schools to receive the 2009 Anti-bullying Accreditation Award.
Gloucestershire County Council presented the award to schools that worked hard to eradicate bullying.
Chipping Campden School is also among eight Gloucestershire schools that have signed up to be Stonewall Champion Schools, as which they will combat homophobic bullying.
Gloucestershire County Council is among 20 councils nationally that have signed up as Stonewall Education Champions.
As such it has launched an anti-bullying information card to combat homophobic bullying.
Coun Jackie Hall, the council’s schools cabinet member, said: “We take bullying of children and young people very seriously and are very aware of the devastating effects it can have on their emotional health and well being.
“We believe in taking a multi-agency approach and together with our partners we can create an atmosphere where those that are bullied have the confidence to talk about it and know that they are being treated seriously and that it will be dealt with appropriately.”
