Blockley youngsters set to take over museum

YOUNGSTERS from Blockley C of E Primary School will be taking over a museum in Chipping Campden for the day next week.

Thirty nine and ten-year-olds will be at the Court Barn Museum on Friday, November 11 as part of Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Day 2011.

The day is part of a national event led by the Children’s Commissioner for England which gives young people the chance to shadow jobs, get involved in decision-making and offer their opinions on key issues.

They will mounting a display of work they have created inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, show visitors around the Museum and lead and take part in a creative workshop.

Curator Sarah McCormick Healy said: “We are delighted to be taking part in Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Day.

“We have already visited the school and started working with them on their display, and spoken about ways in which the children can benefit from this experience.”
