TEWKESBURY and District Twinning Association celebrated its links with Miesbach in Bavaria with a traditional Oktoberfest last week. It took place in Apperley Village Hall and entertainment was provid-ed by Barry Smit and his Bavarian Band. Organisations including the town band, Scouts, Morris dancers, firemen and Tewkesbury school have made visits to Miesbach. The association celebrated its 25th anniversary last August. The Gloucestershire Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the Oriel singers when they present the Ralph Vaughan Williams 50th anniversary concert in Tewkes-bury Abbey. The concert takes place on Saturday, October 18, at 7.30pm. The programme includes his Mass in G Minor, Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis and the Pastoral Symphony. Tickets at £12 (£10 concessions) are available from the Abbey shop or on the door. There is no charge for under-18s.
