BRITISH Car Auctions has finally re-opened its Tewkesbury branch after last summer's floods, and the proceeds from the first car sold have gone to charity.
The 2002 Volkswagen Passat sold for £4,275, and the money has been donated to the Gloucestershire Flood Relief fund.
Operations Director Simon Henstock said: "While we are delighted to have our Tewkesbury centre back in business, we are acutely aware that many residents are not so lucky and have yet to return to their homes.
"We felt it appropriate that the first car we sold was donated to the those local charities who have provided essential help to local residents."
The centre was severely damaged in the floods, and has now been totally refurbished.
The first sale took place on Friday April 25, and sales will now take place every Friday at 10am.
Tuesday evening sales have now also been introduced and will take place every week at 6pm
