Queues from 3am for new Joules in Worcester's shopping crown
FASHION fans queued from 3am to be the first people to set foot in one of the biggest Joules in Worcester’s shopping crown.
The clothing chain opened the doors to its new store, on the corner of the High Street and Copenhagen Street, at 10am yesterday (Thurs) but one lady had been ready to start shopping hours earlier.
Pat Taylor, from Lower Wick, was the first in line to check out what the store has to offer but her wait was not unrewarded, as she was presented with a voucher for £100 to spend inside.
She said: “My daughter gets a lot of things from her she bought me a lovely pair of wellies from the Cheltenham store. I wear them to walk my dog in.
“The clothes are individual, which I like.
“Today I will just have a look round now and get a few things for my daughter. She couldn’t be here today. I am doing this for her really.
“I was here at 3am. It was quite safe. If I had felt uneasy I would have left.”
Next in line was Natasha Hall, of Battenhall, who joined Mrs Taylor at 4.30am and was given a £50 voucher for her efforts, along with the next nine people in the queue, while a further 20 people were also given £20 to spend.
Mrs Hall said: “I love this shop. I spend a lot of money in there and online.
“I like the clothes beause they are really comfortable and my daughter very much enjoys Joules.
“I will be buying some Christmas presents today.”
However, visitors too late to scoop the gifts were offered some entertainment, in the form of an in-store magician.
Joules says it prides itself on capturing the true essence of British style in its clothing range, which is for women, men and children.
And Sally Pate, assistant manager, said she thinks the brand is a good match for the Faithful City.
“It is great that Joules has come to Worcester,” she said.
“I think it will be populare here because Worcester is a heritage city so the brand suits it.
“It is also a family city and Joules is a family brand.”
