Firefighters rescue bull stuck in mud
THIRTEEN firefighters spent nearly two hours rescuing a bull which was stuck in mud on the banks of the River Severn.
Crews were called by a farmer just before 11.30am on Saturday who said his six-year-old bull was stuck in the river at Twyning, near Pershore.
A crew and a boat were sent from Tewkesbury Fire Station along with a further crew from Gloucester North Community fire station.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service said: “Upon arrival the bull was found to be stuck in the mud on the banks of the river and thankfully not in the water itself.
“The bull was suffering from a previous back injury and was unable to get himself out. Firefighters using a halter around the bull managed to encourage it out of the mud by pushing and pulling it manually.”
The bull was unharmed and was checked over by a vet at the scene.
