FIREFIGHTERS have rescued residents from Haw Bridge, Tewkesbury, and Sandhurst Lane in Gloucester so far today.

They were also called out to Sandhurst Lane to take engineers to a property where a gas tank was unsecure and to take a family back to their home to collect belongings and their cat.

Geoff Sallis, Acting Chief Fire Officer, said: “Our firefighters have been doing an excellent job rescuing residents who were trapped by floodwater in their homes and helping those that have already to leave their properties.

“We are on standby to help Gloucestershire’s residents and businesses and continue to work with our partners to keep people safe.”

Councillor Will Windsor-Clive, cabinet member for fire service, said: “As floodwaters continue to rise, the Fire Service is working hard to help residents who have been affected and will continue to do so for as long as they are needed.”
