GLOUCESTER Cathedral is looking for new volunteers to boost its ranks.

A volunteer recruitment day is being held on Saturday from 10.30am to 1pm in the Nave.

The Cathedral currently has a small army of about 450 volunteers whose help is invaluable in the running of thebuilding.

But new recruits are now being sought to help further enhance the visitor experience.

Canon Celia Thomson, responsible for the Cathedrals’ visitor experience and welcome, said: “we are particularly interested in recruiting Cathedral Welcomers, Exhibition Desk Volunteers and Tower Guides, although we offer lots of different volunteering opportunities.

"Our volunteers are extremely important to the day to day life of the Cathedral”.

Anyone with spare time to give, have a friendly and welcoming manner and would like to get involved in Cathedral life are invited to go along.
