The future of Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club, Gloucestershire, along with its 60 jobs, has been secured, with its sale to local family-owned company, Tewkesbury Park Limited.

Managing Director Chris McIntosh and sister Claire White now plan to revitalise the property and provide the long-term investment needed to re-establish it as a source of pride and pleasure for the local community.

That process has already begun, with the new owners bringing in hotel management experts Focus Hotels Management on a long-term contract.

Chris commented: “We are delighted to have been able to acquire Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club and to have the opportunity to revive this important local institution. We are investing for the long term and, with the support of Focus, our aim is to re-establish the hotel as one of the area’s finest.”

Peter Cashman, Chief Executive of Focus Hotels Management, added: “We are excited to have been appointed to manage the Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club, a property which we believe has tremendous potential to become a fantastic landmark for the area.

“We are already in discussions with the McIntosh family regarding their investment plans and look forward to helping them realise their vision for the hotel.”

Plans are being put in place to undertake extensive refurbishment to all areas of the existing hotel and leisure facilities, which includes bringing the bedrooms in the original English Heritage-listed main house back into use.

The four-star venue is located on the historic site of the 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury and has panoramic views of Tewkesbury Abbey and the Cotswold and Malvern Hills. Set amidst 176 acres of mature parkland in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside, it five minutes from the M5 and under 50 miles from Birmingham and Bristol and is an ideal rural retreat for leisure and business guests alike.

The hotel overlooks historic Tewkesbury, with Cheltenham and Gloucester about 15 minutes away.

The hotel currently offers 82 bedrooms, all en suite and with complimentary Wi-Fi; a choice of two restaurants serving locally sourced food; extensive conference, banqueting and wedding facilities for up to 200 guests; and on-site parking.

The par 73 18-hole golf course, currently in superb condition, was designed by the renowned golfer and former President of the English Golf Union, Frank Pennick, and is complemented by a six-hole academy course, driving range, putting green and Pro Shop. The Tewkesbury Park Leisure Club meanwhile offers a selection of spa treatments, plus sauna, steam room, indoor pool, gym, squash and tennis courts.
