HOMES in Tewkesbury are without water this morning because of a burst water main.

Thousands are without water this morning and the burst water main has also closed schools and children's centres.

They are Deerhurst and Apperley CofE Primary, Mitton Manor Primary, both Noah's Ark Children's Centre's on Chance Street and York Road, Queen Margaret Primary, Tewkesbury CE School, Tewkesbury School and Tirlebrook Primary School.

Severn Trent has teams on site who will be working "around the clock" to make sure the water supply is returned.

An update from Severn Trent at 11.50am said some customers had seen their water supply return and they expect to have all supplies restored in the next couple of hours.

It said the issue affected homes and businesses in Tewkesbury, Twyning, Ripple, Shephard Mead, Coombe Hill, Deerhurst, Apperley and Tirley who either had no supply or poor pressure.

A statement from the company said: "This morning we’ve been made aware that a number of our customers in the Tewkesbury area with a GL20 or GL19 post code may not have a water supply or have poor pressure.

"This is due to a large burst water pipe and our teams are on site now working around the clock to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

"We know how difficult it is to have no water, especially at this time of day when you’re trying to get ready for work and school, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing.

"We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get the water supplies back on as soon as we can."
