HUNDREDS of Tewkesbury School pupils are set to take part in a health-inspired enrichment day tomorrow.
This Tuesday, February 9, all Year 11 pupils at the school will attend three sessions designed to focus on the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle.
Gloucestershire Food Vision and NHS Gloucestershire is running one of the sessions called, Eat Well, Move More, Live Longer.
This is in line with the national guidelines laid out in the Change4Life campaign and will raise the pupils’ awareness of the importance of eating well, being more active and resting, particularly in preparation for this summer’s GCSE exams.
Sue Gildling from Hartpury College will lead the second session, Breakfast4Life, and this will include a cookery demonstration of three healthy options which highlights the benefits of eating breakfast.
Gloucestershire Trading Standards will lead the final session, Taking a Closer Look at Food Labelling, which aims to increase the pupils’ knowledge and understanding of food labels.
Nigel Roe, Tewkesbury School training manger, said: “We are very keen to incorporate what Count Me In! is doing into what our Year 11 pupils learn.
“Our enrichment day is the perfect opportunity to teach the pupils about how to live a healthy life.
“Year 11 will leave this year, whether they return to education or go into employment, it is important that our pupils understand what makes a healthy diet and how they can live an active, healthy life.”
