THE Cotswold League girls’ competition got under way with Chipping Campden School putting pressure on title-defending St James.
Goals from Laura Tolley, Freya Ingate, Lydia Linney and Sian Nurse led CSS to a 4-0 success.
They defeated Willersey 2-0, despite the efforts of Haylie Summerhill in goal, with Linney and Georgia Paton-Durrant on target.
The toughest opponents of the evening proved to be Shipston in a goalless draw.
Shipston kept their excellent form against St James, winning 4-0 with Catherine Harris (2), Millie Bryan and Faye Ellery scoring.
Willersey also netted four against St James through Frankie Woods (3) and Meredith Atkinson.
Willersey beat Shipston 2-0 thanks to Woods and Atkinson.
