Injury sees Badsey's tie stopped

First published in Sport

AN injury to a home player saw Badsey’s Worcestershire Women’s Hockey League Division One game at Bromsgrove seconds abandoned 15 minutes from time.

The score was 1-1 with the visitors fielding a depleted side but still looking strong.

A ball deflected into the face of a Bromsgrove player, which caused the abandonment, but the result will stand unless the league decide the game must be replayed.

Badsey’s Laura Moore, Kay Amphlett and Shelly Banner seized control of midfield and sustained pressure resulted in several short corners.

From the last one, playerof- the-match Sarah Rickey’s superb shot gave the Vale outfit a deserved lead.

The visitors were then punished after failing to clear a short corner.

Badsey controlled the second period but missed their normal forward pairing and had an effort disallowed.
